Sony is going to roll out a new beta version of the PS5 system software that will add an extremely requested option. Here are all the new features planned by this future firmware.
If some updates are seemingly useless for gamers, others make people happy. The PS5 firmware which will enter in beta phase will make some of them very happy. Let’s have a look at the new features and especially at THE new feature.
The 1440p supported by the PS5
The PS5 like any modern console is constantly evolving and the new update is here to prove it. Available today for beta testers, this firmware finally integrates support for 1440p as a video output parameter. Ideal for recent compatible TVs or PC monitors.
If your game supports 1440p rendering, you can enjoy native 1440p output on your display.
Alternatively, if your game offers a higher native resolution, such as 4K, you can enjoy enhanced anti-aliasing by upsampling to 1440p output.
To determine if your HDMI device is compatible, select “Test 1440p output” from the “Display and Video” options menu in the system settings.
From now on, there will be a section to listen and clearly perceive the differences between stereo audio and 3D audio.
Better organize your game library with folders
In addition to 1440p, the upcoming PlayStation 5 update also addresses another need: having more dashboard customization options for games. The “Game Lists” are born and thus resemble the PS4 folders. You can put up to 100 games in each of them, for a maximum of 15 lists in all.
To avoid clutter, you can clearly name your game lists. For example “Current games” or “My favorite action games” etc.
You can create a maximum of 15 game lists, each with up to 100 games. All games in the “Your Collection” tab of your Game Library can be added to a game list, whether they are on disc, digital edition or streaming***. You can add a single game to multiple playlists.
In addition, the ongoing activities will have a better visibility with a simplified access. “When you resume a game, current activities are often displayed prominently at the top of the game portal, allowing you to pick up where you left off quickly and easily.” the PS Blog reports.
More PS5 social features
We start with the screen sharing which is getting a makeover. Soon, you will be able to send a request for Screen sharing to party members. Just access the voice chat card and choose a friend whose game you want to view.
As for the Party, it will be easier to join the game that a member is playing. A notification will appear and you can click on it to launch the title directly. Very useful for multiplayer softs for example. If you receive requests from new friends, you can display the profiles under .
Text messages are for boomers
